Denso to open 4th plant in Blount County, TN

Maker of auto parts occupies 1.8 million square feet in county

Denso Manufacturing Tennessee has opened a fourth plant in Blount County, which represents an added $185 million investment.

The auto parts maker employs about 3,000 people in the county and plans to continue hiring through 2010.

Denso Corp. has invested more than $1.1 billion in its 189-acre location in the Blount County industrial Park.

The new facility actually began operations in October 2007 and now employees more than 400 people.

With this addition, the four plants combined have more than 1.8 million square feet.

Denso Corp. has operations in 32 countries and employs more than 112,000 people.

Its customers include Toyota, Honda, Chrysler, General Motors, Ford, Subaru and other auto manufacturers.
