SOURCES OF JOBS NOW! GOAL TRACKING
All data are calculated for the 1993 Knoxville MSA definitions: The combined figures from Anderson, Blount, Knox, Loudon, Sevier and Union Counties.
NET NEW JOBS - are released by the US Bureau of Labor Statistics Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages Division. 2002 annual data is the benchmark. Annual figures are released approximately 6 months after the end of the quarter. Covered employment reported by these sources provided a virtual census (97.1 percent) of jobs on nonfarm payrolls.
NONRESIDENTIAL INVESTMENT - are a compilation of individual company releases to the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development on an annual basis. The investment figures are announced new investment from locations and expansions as tracked by the Department. Changes in nonresidential investment are better tracked through year over year growth in total assessed values for property taxation, but those figures are not available for all of the delineated areas annually. However, those figures should be available at the end of the 5 year period.
EARNINGS PER JOB - is reported by the US Bureau of Economic Analysis. Data lags one year, so data provided in reports will reflect changes in the prior reporting year. EPJ is a a better reflection of economic growth than per capita personal income because it takes into account wages and proprieter's income and divides that figure by the number of people in the workforce.
